The West Virginia Child Care Association (WVCCA) is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Executive Director to lead and advance a statewide association representing organizations that serve children, youth, and families. This role is ideal for a strategic leader who understands the intersection of human services, public policy, and organizational management and is ready to make a meaningful impact across West Virginia.
About the Role
The Executive Director serves as the central leader of WVCCA, responsible for implementing the Association’s strategic plan, managing day-to-day operations, and leading outreach and advocacy efforts. This position works closely with the Executive Committee, member agencies, and key stakeholders, including the West Virginia Department of Human Services, to advance policies and practices that improve outcomes for children and families.
What You’ll Do
Organizational Leadership & Management

Oversee daily operations, financial management, and administrative functions

Implement and monitor WVCCA’s strategic plan

Prepare reports, meeting materials, and maintain organizational records

Support and coordinate committees, meetings, and member engagement
-
Manage membership and ensure efficient office operations

Maintain and support WVCCA’s online learning platform (SmarterU)
Advocacy & External Relations

Represent WVCCA in public forums, meetings, and workgroups

Build and maintain relationships with legislators, state agencies, and partners
-
Monitor legislative and policy developments impacting member agencies

Collaborate with national partners such as National Association for State Associations for Children and Association of Children’s Residential & Community Services
Outreach & Communications

Develop materials (briefs, reports, communications) to promote WVCCA’s mission

Engage stakeholders including providers, policymakers, and the public

Promote membership growth and support current members with technical assistance
-
Strengthen WVCCA’s visibility and position within the human services field
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
-
Master’s degree preferred
-
Progressive leadership experience in administration, management, or human services
-
Experience working with children, youth, and families strongly preferred
Knowledge & Skills
-
Familiarity with West Virginia’s legislative and executive systems
-
Knowledge of the West Virginia Department of Human Services and child-serving systems
-
Strong communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and strategic planning

Proficiency in standard computer applications
Other Requirements

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Willingness to travel within West Virginia and attend occasional evening meetings

Complete WV CARES background screening
