Davis Stuart was founded as an orphanage in 1919 when a 574 acre farm in Lewisburg, WV was donated to the Synod of West Virginia.
Today, Davis Stuart operates as a private, non-profit organization providing therapeutic residential care for adolescents ages 12-18 who have been removed from their homes by court order and placed in the state of West Virginia’s custody for treatment purposes. Davis Stuart’s main campus is located in Lewisburg and serves 44 teenage boys and girls. Additionally, the agency operates 3 group homes located in Bluefield, Maxwelton, and Princeton. Each of these homes has the capacity for 6-8 teens with Bluefield and Princeton serving boys and Maxwelton serving girls.
Therapeutic services* include: substance awareness, fitness, anger management, bullying, sex education, and suicide/self-harm.
