St. John's Home for Children

St. John’s Home for Children is a residential level facility for boys age 6-12 with behavioral or emotional difficulties, and/or are victims of abuse and neglect.

The St. John’s Home for Children believes in and promotes the following values on which we stand as we strive to carry out our Mission:

  • F – Family is of fundamental importance in the life of every child.

  • A – Accountability at all levels

  • M – Making positive memories for our boys with meritorious standards and mentoring family values.

  • I – Integrity, innovation, and improvement

  • L – Love, Dignity and Respect for our clients, their families, and one another.

  • Y – YES, we can.

Our goal is to help the children we serve to return to healthy, happy homes. This may be reunification with their natural family, kinship care, or placement into a foster/adoptive home.  To facilitate this, the goal and objective for each child and his forever family are clearly established in the beginning. Involving the final placement family helps to facilitate the child’s progress throughout the treatment process.

The average length of stay usually ranges from six to nine months but may be longer or shorter depending upon the individual child. Program staff work closely with families, school personnel, WVDHHR caseworkers, CASA workers, and other community professionals and systems to help assist in smooth transitions.
